I logged into my other server with RealVNC and had to make it full screen so I could see everything. I thought the key-combination to get out of full screen mode was Ctrl-Esc, but that didn't work. I looked up the VNC documentation, and found that F8 will bring up a menu, and then you can uncheck "Full screen"
